I went out to my local TRU (Toys R Us) to see if I could find it and to my surprise I DID. I was after this set for the reissue of Classics Voyager Optimus Prime, a figure a lot of collectors really love.
It turns out I love BOTH figures to a point where I gushed at their near perfection.
Let's start with Classics: I am not experienced with the Classics line as I only have Rodimus and Cyclonus G1 two-pack but WOW this Optimus is amazing. It even has chrome used in the Henkei Henkei version's legs and grille. This Prime is painted to be the closest homage to the G1 Optimus Prime TOY meaning his eyes are yellow and his he has a simple silver stripe. With this being one of the numerous reuses of the Classics Prime mold one would expect it to be victim of loose joints or parts that don't fit together properly (Mold Degradation) All the parts hold their place and all the joints are nice and tight. A+ for you Hasbro!
Now for Age of Extinction Prime: I cannot gush enough at the surprisingly superb look this guy has going for him. While the original AOE Evasion Prime goes for the G1 Homage look, this one is all about Movie Prime's previous look in the first 3 movies, blue painted eyes, flames, grey feet, and silver accenting with blue and red highlights. This is the definitive movie voyager Optimus Prime figure for robot mode and I don't care how biased I may sound, I was blown away by this figure. He's leaps and miles ahead of the normal AOE Voyager Prime. Like the Classics, his joints are all nice and tight, save for an elbow which from what I can tell is normal in this figure. He comes with a black molded version of Megatron's fusion shotgun and now that I have both this one and the grey one, both Prime and Megatron can have the weapon. When it comes to the quality of movie Transformers figures, especially the smaller ones, it's hard to find ones that knock it out of the park and this is one that does. A+ once again Hasbro.
Again, cannot gush enough about this set and considering most Voyagers go for about $26 per, the retail price of $44.99 is completely justified.
Bottom line if you love Optimus Prime in both movie and G1 but don't have the scratch for the Takara Masterpiece and Leader versions... BUY. THIS. SET.
